The Dining Hall
The dining hall is the main eating area for boys.
Mfantsipim provides three meals a day to boys
on campus. Dining is one of the most important
activities which are religiously followed by boys
on campus.
Boys will normally come in for break fast after
the first 2 hour lessons in the morning, lunch
after the close of day and supper after siester
before “prep” hours. Prep were preparatory
evening self study times supervised by senior
boys on duty and prefects on campus. There is
normally a master on duty who will assist students
and prefects in case of emergencies.
Quality
of food is adequately good, but a common place
for Boys to complain about its state of quality,
especially during school forums and council meetings
at the end of semester.
The
procedure at Dining hall
Discipline at meals is A1, as prefects maintain
the strict application of rules. The dining bell
will be rang before dining times for each meal
session. Boys will be expected to congregate in
the dining room. 10 – 15 minutes will be
allowed by prefects for boys to be seated after
which doors will be closed. All boys who will
be late for dining will not be admitted by prefects
who will guard the doors to the teeth.
Prefects will make sure boys are standing after
the first bell for prayer before table servers
(who are normally elected students in turns) will
serve the food. Students are given adequate time
for serving and eating of meals after which the
bell is rang for the closing prayer and the main
doors opened for students to leave.
Prefects will organise periodic mass cleaning
of the kitchen. Daily cleaning will be carried
out by kitchen staff (one notable staff who served
in this position is Alarie).
